Overview
This course develops the skills and knowledge needed to service and support HP BladeSystem products. Introduces HP BladeSystem products (p-Class and c-Class) and infrastructure, how to setup enclosures, connectivity and storage options and how to use the Onboard Administrator and ILO. Assists in preparation for the Accredited Platform Specialist (APS) certification exam for BladeSystem servers.

Audience
The Accredited Platform Specialist is expected to be able to return the BladeSystem or its components to their operational state as shipped from the factory. The BladeSystem components must pass POST routines and be made available for software load. The APS certification level is not responsible for the initial software load but is responsible for driver loads/updates and ROM loads/updates. They are also expected to run any HP provided diagnostics for problem identification/isolation including System Insight Manager to view alert conditions and properly identify the affected sub-assembly and perform repair/replacement procedures.
This course is designed for students who have the required certifications or equivalent knowledge and experience. The course is available to HP partners, HP customers, and internal HP employees. It is intended for first and second level support professionals who are responsible for servicing and supporting HP BladeSystem products.
Prerequisites
Recommended prerequisite certification:-
- CompTia Server+ certification, or the equivalent Industry Standard Architecture and first or second line support experience.
Recommended prerequisite training:-
- ProLiant Server Basics is required preparation in server technology. (Select the ProLiant Technology Basics for Service Professionals profile.)
- HP ProLiant Family is required preparation in ProLiant family products. (Select the Services profile.)
- Service Fundamentals (downloadable text-based course).

- Describe the steps involved in setting up the BladeSystem.
- Describe the cooling technologies designed for the BladeSystem.
- Explain the numbering schemes for device bays, interconnect bays, and fans.
- List the features and benefits of BladeSystem.
- Explain the process for installing the BladeSystem components.
- Describe the technologies that supply power to the BladeSystem.
- Identify the components of the enclosure.
- Explain how to install and cable Onboard Administrator modules.
